Matt Bruening is a born and raised designer, photographer, and stylist from Makaha, Oahu.
Bruening is known for his fun palaka "Hawaiian Plaid" pieces and became one of his staples in his collections.
Palaka dates back to days of King Kamehameha the Great. It was originally a type of pattern in England for the sailors, in the late 1900's it made it's way from England to make them into uniforms for the plantation field workers.
